Safeguarding
Safeguarding is the most important aspect of making sure that our Camps and After-school clubs operate safely. To ensure the utmost safety for all children attending, each team member has been through vigorous training to notice the small details and to know when something isn’t right.
Before becoming a member of our Athena Activities team, it is a requirement that each individual completes a Level 3 Safeguarding Course, alongside other mandatory courses that benefit the level of care and safety provided to all children. Safeguarding training gives a thorough overview of how particular individuals might be vulnerable and the steps to follow in these circumstances.
Each Camp and/or After-School Club has a Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSL) to whom staff can report any concerns to.
If you have any concerns or would like to make us aware of anything please email safeguarding@athenaactivities.co.uk. You can download our full Safeguarding Policy here.
Athena Activities follows the five key principles of Safeguarding:
- Prevention
- Paramountcy
- Partnership
- Protection
- Parental Responsibility
- If a safeguarding concern is reported, it will go through all appropriate channels. Parents, guardians or carers will be made aware of the concerns where necessary unless it needs to be dealt with further. Athena Activities DSLs will work in partnership with Early Help Support, Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and Child Protection Team when it is requisite.
- Every venue that Athena Activities works in has the appropriate Risk Assessments and Health & Safety Checks. These are completed daily to ensure that our venues are safe for all children to attend. We keep our children’s safety a priority.
- Incident forms are to be completed by staff every time a child is involved in any incident. These forms will be shared and signed by their parents, carer or guardian.
- Accident forms are to be completed by staff every time a child injures themselves and are to be added to an Accident Tracking sheet. These forms will be shared and signed by their parents, carer, or guardian.
- A ‘Concern for Well-being’ form will be completed every time a child discloses information that is a safeguarding concern. This could be by the children verbally disclosing, showing different behaviours, physical markings, or mirroring behaviour.
