Our Overall Mission
At Athena Activities, everything we do is to support our children and families. We pride ourselves on our incredible team who provide exceptional care every time your child visits us. We are dedicated to ensuring your child not only has fun during their time with us but is also supported in their growth and development. We value and encourage each child to embrace their individuality in a safe and nurturing atmosphere. Through teaching invaluable social and life skills, Athena Activities is committed to enriching the lives of our children and young people. Guiding them, as they lay down their stepping stones to a bright and brilliant future. Athena Activities’ core mission is supporting our local areas and the people within them.Â
People
Due to the current economic climate, it is more important now than ever to support our families and children. We are beyond proud to have been supporting children and families for eleven years. Our holiday camps and after-school clubs help provide our parents with extra time for their other responsibilities, whether it be work or simply some time to breathe. Athena Activities’ childcare services mean that our parents can relax knowing their children are always safe with us. Our partnerships with key stakeholders such as the Department of Education & Work and Pensions, Schools, Housing Associations, and the Police Fire & Crime Commissioner, mean that we can support families despite their income. Athena Activities is incredibly passionate about inclusive accessibility to outstanding childcare.Â
Creating Safe Spaces
The foundation of Athena Activities is ensuring that we collectively keep our children and young people safe. Within the 10% most deprived areas of the country, our holiday activity camps have taken antisocial behaviour from a red-warning level down to non-existent. Our team is trained to be sympathetic and nurturing to both the children and families who walk through our doors. We create safe spaces where children’s anxieties, self-esteem, and anything holding them back from reaching their true potential, are understood and comforted. All of our staff have complete safeguarding training, have DBS checks, and carry a strong passion for the values of Athena Activities. Each camp venue has individual designated safeguarding leads to support our staff through any worries or concerns. All our processes are outlined to each staff member; we hold Athena Activities to a golden standard of care.
Impact
Many of our children and families have experienced a multitude of hardships. Whether it be that they come from difficult backgrounds or struggle with social and emotional needs (SEN), we have a place for everyone at Athena Activities. Through our holiday camps, we are proud to offer an escape from ‘real life’ . We provide exciting, educational, and challenging activities for all children to explore. We support our children in building skills for life, socially, and abilities such as cooking and food hygiene. At Athena Actvities, we celebrate diversity and stand united against discrimination against our children, families, and staff. We believe that by standing tall, next to one another, we are able to create extraordinary opportunities for our children and young people.Â
